Be A Professional Servant!

Google Doc

There are some rules in the society. Which is you should be a professional when you do something in community. If you don’t, so you’re not worth at all. I told someone this, “You should focus when you do your work, because you should be professional in anything.” Then He replied. “Do you think you can focus when you do your prayer, and there’re so much things come into your mind?”

From that discussion I swallow again my words that came out yesterday. I think professional is not only about focus. But also about dedication and accomplishing duty on time. Maybe I can be wrong in this matter, however I have my own view.

Why do I think like that?

Dedication is important of being professional. Even when you have skill and capability without dedication is worth less. How can a work or a duty be done well, if you don’t give attention,  a serious act, and enthusiasm to finish the task.

Being On time also is a part of professionality. If you have a deadline so you can’t pass that before finishing the task. Because when you finish your work more than the time that already prescribed, people will think that neither you’re not serious, nor have discipline in accomplishing the task. And it will decrease the value of assessment of the judge (the judge here can be people who give you the duty).

So, now I’m going to explain about how to be a professional servant.

Well, we have the deadline as well as a servant of Allah. The great deadline is the death that definitely can come anytime, anywhere. With the book of Allah, Al-Qur’an Al-Kariim, we have prescribed tasks and duties to accomplish before the deadline.

Having dedication and being on time are important as a professional servant. The deadline of our life is death, but there’re many deadlines also for several task. For example, there’re prescribed times for five time prayers, fasting, zakat, in another word we call it rules of the deeds.

So to be a professional as a servant is to give our effort in doing all the tasks and duties with enthusiasm, sincerity, without focusing on the result. Because Allah will see our effort in doing deeds and to be on time we should follow our model, Rasulullah shalallahu ‘alaihi wasallam. He finished his tasks, duties, and Allah pleased with him so he returned to Him.

What should we do also the same. Which is we have to please Allah with dedication and being on time, and don’t waste time because the deadline is running toward us.
